Altea Club de Golf Review

The Altea Club de Golf is one of the most spectacular golf courses in the whole of the Costa Blanca and offers stunning views, challenging holes, and exceptional facilities. Located near the small village of Altea la Vella, this course feels hidden away and secret, although it’s only a 15-minute drive away from Benidorm.

As you progress through the 9-hole course, you’re met with unforgettable mountain and sea vistas. The best view of the sea can be found on hole 7 which is the course’s signature hole.  Set at the foot of the Sierra Bernia Mountains, this course can either be played as a 9 (par 36) or 18-hole (par 72).

Should you play an 18-hole game, you will repeat the first 9 holes, however the tee boxes are different for the last 9 holes, which keeps the course fresh and varied.  The second half is definitely more challenging, particularly the 179m incline on the 15th hole. Throughout, players will encounter hilly and narrow fairways, dog-leg holes, and plenty of trees flanking the fairways.

The picturesque look of the course is furthered by the swaying palm trees, providing shade when necessary. The course is also well looked after and often referred to as being one of the most well maintained Costa Blanca golf resorts.

It’s also one of the oldest, having first opened back in 1974, and was designed by Pedro Barber and Gregorio Sanz.  If you’re looking for the ultimate golf break in Costa Blanca, be sure to book a round at this historic club. You should also take advantage of the recently renovated Jacaranda restaurant, which comes complete with its outdoor terrace.
