Torremirona is an underrated venue for golf holidays on the Costa Brava. It’s poised right in the middle of the natural region of Empordà and commands unbeatable views of the Pyrenees. The natural landscape that surrounds this golf resort gives it an especially tranquil feeling and it presents a high end Spa, restaurant and accommodation options giving Torremirona a top class resort experience.
The 18 hole course is a par 72 that measures 5,710 metres and dates back to the early 1990’s. It was designed by Eugenio Aguado in collaboration with Jordi Soler. It’s generally considered to be fun and easy and laid out in typical resort style fashion.
If you’re looking for easy golf courses on the Costa Brava, Torremirona should definitely be considered. High handicappers will be able to use Torremirona as a means of improving their game but it’s also equally challenging to low and mid handicappers.
The first 9 feel moderately open and easy, with straight par 3’s, 4’s and 5’s. However, players must watch out for the 5th and 6th holes, which boast complicated water hazards and challenging greens. The 5th is made more difficult thanks to its peninsular green, these two being considered to be the course’s signature holes.
The second half of this course features holes that are increasingly compact and challenging. Water hazards can be found again on the 10th and 18th, the latter being one of the most challenging due to its double dog leg configuration. Besides the water features, there are also several pine tree clusters found throughout the course meaning precision shots are required to avoid getting into trouble and scoring badly.
