Altaona Golf was designed by world renowned golf architects Stirling & Martin and opened in 2004. Located just 15 minutes from the city of Murcia the resort is very well connected for hotels, villas, bars and restaurants. The course itself is located in a dry arid desert environment that meanders through the resort development and offers wide fairways rolling through a gentle topography. Golfers that play with accuracy will avoid the trees, lakes and bunkers providing the perfect setting for an enjoyable and challenging golf experience.
The whole development is modern and pristine, buggies are recommended to make the most of the round with the gentle topography providing a good physical challenge. The course has wide forgiving fairways and several tricky bunkers to navigate. There are sparkling ponds coming into play in the centre of the course meaning golfers must be precise with their approach shots and avoid finding the drink! Although the course offers a stern challenge with a slope rating of 134, there are plenty of opportunities for the more amateur golfer to enjoy their game round Altaona. The course facilities include a very well stocked pro shop, clubhouse with sensational gastro bar ‘6 Sentidos’, a driving range with modern bays, a practice chipping area and pristine putting green. Altaona must be considered one of Murcia’s rising stars and will provide a fantastic golf getaway for groups, individuals and families alike!
