The Camiral Golf Girona Stadium course is definitely considered the better of the two golf courses found at Camiral Golf & Wellness. It’s not only considered to be one of the best golf courses in Costa Brava but also one of Europe’s premier golf venues, having played host to the Spanish Open three times.
Opened in 1999, this professional course is located 45 minutes outside of Barcelona, under the shadow of the Girona mountains. The designers, Angel Gallardo and Neil Coles sought to make the most of the surrounding natural landscape by incorporating it into the course. The difficult but enjoyable course can be defined by its flora and fauna: clusters of Mediterranean trees are found on nearly all the holes and like many golf resorts in Costa Brava, there are also lakes and bunkers to watch out for.Â
All levels are welcome, with five different tee options for each hole. A 3 wood is recommended for the first hole, which features a lake right alongside the tee box. The par 4 fourth not only has a challenging water feature but is also a blind hole, so caution is advised. Hole nine may be the most difficult overall, with its 437 metres and challenging sloping green. The thirteenth is definitely considered the signature hole here, which is all downhill and features beautiful lakes adding to the char.Â
