Club de Golf Alcanada Review
If you’re staying in Alcudia, the Alcanada is right on your doorstep. Golf breaks in the Balearics don’t come more scenic than this, with the golf course being as close to the Mediterranean as possible!
The 6,559-metre course was first opened in 2003 and quickly became known as one of the most premium Balearic golf resorts. The Robert Trent Jones Jnr-design makes the most of the surrounding scenery and offers both great views of the sea in front and rolling hills to the back.Â
If you’re a high handicapper however, you may feel out of your depth on this challenging course. The first hole for example sets the bar high, being a difficult par 5 with a creek in front of the hole. Luckily, the course gives golfers 5 tee options for each hole, which can make hundreds of yards worth of difference and ease the difficulty level.
Hole 2 keeps things challenging, with a sharp dog leg and intimidating fairway bunker.Â
Of the 18 holes, the signature hole has to be the 7th, which is a lengthy par 5. This hole encapsulates what Trent Jones Jr is all about, with a difficult bunker located right in the middle of the fairway and a tricky green approach at least the views of the sea are second to none providing some solace for a difficult score!Â
Trees serve as natural hazards throughout, with plenty of old palm and pine trees complicating your shots. There are many Balearic golf courses, but this one is definitely worth playing if you’re a skilled golfer who is up for a challenge.
