The Club de Golf Vallromanes is one of the most exclusive golf courses in Barcelona. While non-club members can play on this rolling course, you should book well in advance.
The clubhouse, which is a classic Masia Spanish country house, dates all the way back to 1718. The golf course was built in 1972, by Mr. F.W. Hartwee, who was a popular architect at the time.
When you enjoy golf holidays in Barcelona, you normally have to drive considerable distances from the city centre to reach the course. This is not the case with Golf Vallromanes, which can be reached by car in under 20 minutes.
Despite its proximity to the city, it offers peace and tranquillity for optimum golfing. It is located in an area called the Vallès Oriental county and is surrounded by tree-covered hills.
The course is a complete joy to play. It’s relatively small compared to other golf courses in the region but still manages to fit in 18 challenging holes.
Following the dog leged first hole, holes 2 and 3 are relatively straight, although you need to watch out for the tree and bunker hazards. Although there’s no official signature hole, hole 12 is probably the most scenic, with its front and right lakes.
The fairways are always pristine and the grass appears to be healthy and well kept. If you’re staying at one of the many golf hotels in Barcelona, it would definitely be worth making the short trip out to Vallromanes to give it a try!
Club de Golf Vallromanes is located just 35 minutes from the City of Barcelona up the coast towards the beach towns of Montgat and El Masnou. The airport at El Prat is 45 minutes away meaning a comfortable journey time to get to the course.
