Like many golf courses in Costa Brava, Emporda Golf consists of two separate courses, each with its own set of challenges. The two courses (Forest and Links) as well as the hotel attached make Emporda a must visit resort on one of your golf holidays on the Costa Brava.
Out of the two the Links course is definitely the most challenging. It’s designed in the style of a British links course but with one key difference, several tricky water features can be found throughout. There’s also a noticeable lack of flora throughout the course which is especially noticeable after playing the Forest course.
The Links consists of 6,327 metres worth of undulating dunes. It’s a par 71 and things start to get pretty tricky around the second hole, which is 400 metres in length and features a dog leg over a lake.
Things don’t get any easier on the third hole, which features deep bunkers in the middle of the fairway as well as a sand trap around the green. The 18th hole is the course’s signature, thanks to its perfectly landscaped lake that runs the length of the hole.
Emporda Golf Forest course on the other hand, features much more greenery, with nearly every hole being lined by pines. This course features raised greens as well as some very tough bunkers. The trees and the rolling mounds make it difficult to pick a signature hole on the Forest course. However, the ninth is particularly scenic and enjoyable.
