Costa Blanca golf breaks are so popular thanks to courses like Golf Bonalba. Long and challenging, and featuring plenty of water and hills, the Golf Bonalba proves to be a delightful course for players of all abilities.
7 of the 18 holes feature water hazards, which are provided by the five large lakes positioned throughout the course. Skilled golfers can easily pitch across the lake on hole 5, while inexperienced players may prefer to take the long route.
The course features a par 72 layout and boasts undulating hills and plenty of flora species throughout. Other hazards come in the form of the course’s Mediterranean vegetation. Lofty pines and exotic palm trees line the course, while several bunkers provide further obstacles for golfers to avoid.
Despite all of these hazards, the fairways and greens are easy to pitch and put upon, thanks to their well-maintained surfaces. Smooth and consistent, golfers cannot blame the quality of the pitch for their poor playing. Instead, they can blame the inclines and descents of the undulating course.
One of the most challenging holes is the course’s signature – number 16. This hole is both up and downhill and features a dog leg bend. Over this 3,367-metre course, there are some long walks between the tee and the green, so hiring a buggy would be recommended.
Generally considered to be one of the best golf courses in Costa Blanca, Golf Bonalba was opened in 1995 and was designed by the late Ramón Espinosa. Part of Hotel Bonalba, this course is also considered to be one of the best golf resorts in Costa Blanca.
Golf Bonalba is located just 20 minutes from the City of Alicante with a wealth of bars, restaurants and hotel options. The international Airport is also just 20 minutes from the golf course providing a very convenient travel time. The coastal resorts of El Campello is just 10 minutes away with some stunning sandy beaches available for a relaxing getaway.
