La Cañada Golf is located perfectly in the middle of the Costa del Sol and therefore has several different Hotel options.
Located in the heart of the Costa del Sol, La Cañada Golf is surrounded by nature and just minutes from the sandy beaches stretching down to the mediterranean sea.
Opened in 1982 the course was designed by two of the worlds finest course architects, the front nine by David Thomas and the back nine by Robert Trent Jones, this makes for an entertaining experience with fairways winding through mature woodland and protective bunkers surrounding the pristine greens on most holes. The course also features water on a few holes in the form of 2 well positioned lakes.
The course is also famous for the golf school, hosting over 300 pupils and seen amongst the most important in Spain. The original idea of improving youth golf in Spain is certainly working well on this slightly shorter track. This means for amateur golfers there’s less distance requirement but still ample challenge for lower handicappers.
La Cañada is a par 71 course with the following hole layout 5 par 3’s, 9 par 4’s and 4 par 5’s The distances are as follows:
White 5866 yards
Yellow 5638 yards
Blue – 5245 yards
Red 5096 yards
La Cañada is a perfect option for a challenging round of golf, superbly located in amongst several other famous courses and renowned for it’s warm friendly welcome. A challenge for lower handicappers however more forgiving in length for higher handicappers, a must play course in the Sotogrande area on the Costa del Sol.
