The Resort Course was originally a standalone golf course and was designed by Sir Henry Cotton, the same architect that designed The Championship Course that Penina Resort is famous for. If you’re staying at Penina, the Resort Course is the perfect place for a practice round before taking on its infinitely more challenging big brother.
The Resort Course is a nine-hole course measuring 3267 yards off the competition tees and 2875 yards off the yellow tees. You can complete two loops of nine holes, in which case the distance is 6522 yards from the competition tees and 5751 yards from the yellows. Par is 35 for nine holes and 71 for 18 holes.
No handicap certificate is required at the Resort course, so it’s a great place to introduce new players to the wonderful sport of golf. Higher handicappers will also appreciate the wide fairways and shorter holes.
The signature hole at the Resort Course is the third hole. A tricky Par-3 over a lake looks particularly inviting from the tee box. However, leave it short, and you’ll end up in the water.
The fifth hole is also worthy of note. It’s a 546-yard par-5, with a long wide fairway that’s typical of many of the holes at the Penina courses. An elevated green awaits you after three well-placed shots. A Par or even a birdie is very achievable here for mid-handicap golfers.
The best deals at The Resort Course are for hotel guests.

Mid-season, it costs €31 for nine holes and €41 for eighteen holes.
