Golf at Real Club Penida de Sevilla is one of the most historical courses in Andalusia, formed originally as a 9 hole layout in 1939. Due to the popularity of golf it was expanded to a par 72 full 18 hole in 1992. The entire course was renovated in 2017 creating the pristine and diverse challenge you encounter today.
The course winds it way between mature pine and palm woodland using consolidated fairways and finishing on tight greens with fast undulating curves. Some of these greens are particularly difficult to access, creating a real challenge for the amateur golfer. Another interesting feature of Real Club Penida is the horse racing track that crosses the course in places!
Real Club Penida de Seville features a Par 72 course divided into 4 par 3’s, 10 par 4’s and 4 par 5’s. The course yardages and slope ratings are as follows:Â
White – 6296 Metres – Slope – 131 M
Yellow – 6170 Metres – Slope – 130 M
Blue – 5330 Metres – Slope – 126 F
Red – 5139 Metres – Slope – 123 F
Signature hole at Real Club Penida de SevilleÂ
The 1st hole is a tricky start and offers an excellent idea of what’s to come at Penida. A slight dogleg left featuring both bunker, and water hazards that can stop you in your tracks before the round has even begun.
Although not lengthy for a par 4 at just 323 yards, a precise drive of just 22o+ yards is required to offer a nice second with look into the green. Finding the fairway is key, anything pushed moderately right will find the 3 bunkers and further right the water.
The second shot must also be precise to avoid the two protective bunkers left and right. Finding the dance floor with the second offers a good look at par, however walking off the 1st with a bogey 5 is definitely a fine achievement.
In summary the Real Club Penida Seville has an air of class, culture and history. One of the oldest golf courses in Seville, it is now fully renovated to a spectacular standard, this course will challenge all level of golfer.
