To play on San Lorenzo Golf Course, men must have a handicap of 28 or less, while ladies must have a handicap of 36 or less.
As you approach the San Lorenzo Clubhouse, the figure of eight course layout will immediately capture your attention.
Starting on the front nine, golfers will experience water hazards on many of the holes.
The course opens with an inviting par 5 measuring 495 yards (452 metres) from the competition tees.
Hole 5, the shortest par 3 at 141 yards (129 metres) from the yellow tees, boasts an incredible backdrop of the beach and the sea beyond.
Meanwhile, the sixth hole, a 421 yards (386 metres) par 4, is the toughest on the front nine with a stroke index of 1. Golfers must be accurate off the tee as the estuary borders the hole on one side and dense shrubs on the other.
The seventh hole, a 377 yards (345 metres) par 4, plays from an elevated tee overlooking the Ria Formosa estuary. Golfers must watch out for any slice as the green is almost entirely surrounded by water.
Hole 8 is one of the most memorable par 5s, measuring 541 yards (495 metres) from the competition tees, as it borders the largest of the inland lakes. The third shot must carry water to a tight but beautifully positioned green.

The sixteenth is where players will encounter the hardest of the par 3s, measuring a full 197 yards (180 metres). There’s not much green to work with here, so you’ll need to be accurate with shot placement.
The Ria Formosa estuary comes into play on the 17th and 18th holes, bringing golfers back inland. The seventeenth is a stunningly beautiful hole with the lake in play from tee to green all along the left side.
Golfers must hit a good drive to leave no problem with the second to an inviting green. The eighteenth hole is a sneaky 400-yard plus par 4 with water all the way up the left and a semi-island green.
Golfers must weigh up the risk and reward on this classic finishing hole.
The Greens at San Lorenzo Golf Course are well maintained and offer golfers a true putting surface with subtle breaks that will test even the most experienced of players.
