San Roque Old Course is a course steeped in history and prestige. Hosting European Tour events for 15 consecutive years from 1993-2007 the club has witnessed some of the worlds finest golfers .
The course was in pristine condition since the inception in 1990, however during the recent pandemic a decision was made to fully renovate and improve all aspects of the course and facilities. After consulting renowned course consultant John Clarkin the work started in early 2020. Massive changes to all aspects of the course, including bunker removal, re-seeding and improving sustainability and reducing water usage have created an even more spectacularly pristine course environment.
Fast, tricky undulating greens, immaculate fairways, remodelled bunkers and trees with perfect tee boxes make the old course truly one of Europe’s top golf experiences.

Signature hole at San Roque Old Course
The par 3 Twelfth has to be considered one of the most beautiful tee box views in the area, and provides a fantastic challenge to even the most confident golfer.
Stepping onto the 12th tee gives a wonderful stretching vista over the entire hole and frames the Sierra Bermeja mountains beautifully in the distance. Once the view has been appreciated and fully imbibed, the golf begins!
At just 155 yards from the competition tees the hole doesn’t seem too much of a challenge, however precision is required to land the ball impeccably on the dancefloor.
Anything either long, or wayward left and right will find bunkers or drop off the back and roll into the forest. You are much better finding the left side of the green with the smaller bunker than the larger right hand side. Walking away with a par is a great achievement on the 12th!
The Old Course at San Roque is truly one of the most perfectly laid out, spectacular and prestigious golf experiences in Europe and the Sotogrande area. To describe these 18 holes as one of Europe’s top courses is definitely a valid statement.
