[0] => Aguilon Golf is a perfect match for anyone looking for a course featuring a variety of terrains, challenging shots over water, tricky ravines and immaculate greens. Golf here places you in a perfect symbiosis with nature, the course winds it way through ravines in a desert environment and the lush green fairways contrast perfectly with the turquoise ponds and palm trees dotted throughout this immaculate course.
The course was designed and created by renowned course architects Blake Stirling and Marco Martin and finished in 2008. It contains over 100 bunkers and 6 lakes meandering between natural valleys, dwarfed beneath the Aguilon mountains and overlooking the Pulpi bay.
Divided into 5 different layouts defined by tee boxes and varying distances creating a challenge for golfers of all levels.
From the Black or 'Eagle' you are looking at 6012m with a slope of 132, the 'Falcon' is next longest at 5756m and a slope of 131. Both the black tees are suited to pro golfers and players with a handicap up to 12.
The Yellow 'Partridge' course is designed for mid level male golfers with handicaps between 13-22 or Female Pros to a handicap of 9. With a distance of 5099m it provides a tough challenge and a slope of 123 for men or 137 for female golfers.
The Blue 'Sparrow' Course is a more modest challenge suited to male golfers between 22-30+ and female golfers of 10-18. Distance wise it's a 4503m track with a slope of 113 and 128 for men and women respectively.
Finally the Red 'Lowry' Course showcases a challenge for players with a handicap of 9+. It has a female slope rating of 121 and a distance of 4147m.
The course is an 18 hole and carries a par of 71 divided into 9 par 4's, 5 par 3's and 4 par 5's.
Aguilon Signature Hole
It has to be the par 5 9th hole, teeing off from an elevated box down into a canyon with 2 different ravines. To clear the second ravine a drive of 230 yds is required. Even after this tough first shot a precise second is required to land between the 2 lakes flanking either side of the thin fairway funeling down towards the green. A final chip on requires a delicate control to prevent rolling off down into the lake or finding one of 2 bunkers to the left. Walking off hole 9 with a par is some achievement.
In summary, to visit Aguilon Golf is to experience one of Spains most stunning new courses. Very challenging and requiring some local knowledge to conquer to longer holes, but with panoramic views down towards the sparkling Mediterranean to calm the nerves on the tee box! The 5 courses offer an excellent opportunity for golfers of all levels to enjoy this fantastic course and the ravines, mountains and lakes tick all boxes for the golf purist.
