[0] => The Alenda Golf Club is considered one of the best golf courses in Costa Blanca. It boasts 18 holes dotted over 49 hectares of land. The par 72 course is 6,257 metres long and provides golfers with a range of challenges, specifically in terms of distance and elevation.
The Alenda golf course sits at the foot of the Sierra de Las Aguilas mountain range, which lends the course an undulating topography and a picturesque backdrop. Some golfers may find the length and the steepness of some of the holes challenging to walk - especially during summer. Luckily, buggies are allowed on the paths.
The first nine holes provide generous fairways, giving you plenty of opportunities to use your driver. More skill is required for the last nine, which includes several par threes, man-made hazards, and even a water hazard on the 18th. The 17th is the signature hole, thanks to its narrowness and flanking of trees on either side.
The region can experience windy spells, which only adds to the excitement and challenge of the course. During the shoulder seasons, the fairway is resplendent with minimal bare patches. However, during peak seasons, the quality of the green does tend to suffer slightly from the heat.
Opened in October of 1999, designer Roland Favrat sought to create a golf course that complemented the natural beauty of the surrounding nature reserve. The lay of the land was left unaltered and beautiful pine, carob, and palm trees surround the fairways.
There is a great practice area for you to get in the swing of things before starting your round. In terms of amenities, players can dine Mediterranean style at the onsite restaurant, browse in the pro shop, or even use the club’s gym.
