[0] => Most golf holidays in the Balearics include a visit to T-Golf Calvia, which is situated just 12km away from the coastal resorts around the city of Palma. It first opened in 1978 and was designed by John Harris in the style of Scottish golf courses. Initially it was called Golf de Poniente but was renamed T-Golf Calvia in 2015.
The par 72 course has 18 challenging holes and can be characterised by its healthy Bermuda grass, mature pine tree hazards, numerous bunkers and 15 lakes. It sits on rolling hills and measures 6,426 metres in length. It’s generally considered quite a tricky course, but like most Balearic golf courses it can be enjoyed by all.
Holes 1-4 are a mix of par 4’s and 5’s and are the easiest of the 18. They allow golfers to get comfortable with their swing before moving on to the more challenging hole 5, which features a narrow landing area.
The 8th is a blind hole and all downhill, with an intimidating ravine on the right hand side. However the 14th may be the most difficult, with water, reedbeds and plenty of bunkers throughout.
The undulations provide plenty of viewpoints along the course, affording players terrific looks at the dramatic Mallorcan landscape and especially the rolling hills in the background. The 14th hole is the course’s signature, which provides the best vantage point out over the course.
In terms of accommodation options, you can find some of the best golf resorts in the Balearics in the nearby towns and the city of Palma being close by offers some fantastic hotels.
