He didn’t disappoint; the result was the Dom Pedro Old Course. As you plot your way around, one thing that stands out is how much The Old Course blends into its surroundings. You get the distinct impression that no heavy sculpting or contouring was undertaken to create the layout and much of the native vegetation remains to provide much of the character. It’s just…meant to be.
The Old Course is an unusual par 73 and measures 6469 yards off the yellow tees, but for those players wanting more of a challenge, why not take on the whites, where the length is increased to 6840 yards? Playing off the red tees, the Old Course measures 5605 yards.
Water plays a much smaller role here than on other Dom Pedro golf courses, such as The Victoria Course. But what you will find a lot more of are trees, lots of trees.
While lovely to look at, those pesky pine trees can add to your frustration if you’re not precise with your drives and iron play.
The Old Course Signature Hole
Most golfers pick the eighth hole at The Old Course as their favourite. From the Medal tee, this hole plays over 400 metres and features a gradual decline to a fairway bunker, a gentle dogleg right, and a rise to a narrow green that is well protected by trees on all sides.
