Vale do Lobo Royal
Twilight Green Fee: €60 in low season and €80 in high season
High Season Green Fee: €135
When: After 15:30
When anyone mentions the Royal Course at Vale do Lobo, you’ll inevitably hear about the 16th, a stunning par-3 that plays over a ravine along the cliff-face. Often cited as the most photographed hole in Portugal. It’s one you’ll want to play again and again. Tee off after 15:30 and you’ll get a 40% discount on the regular green fee with their twilight rate.
Vale do Lobo Ocean
Twilight Green Fee: €60 in low season €80 in high season
High Season Green Fee: €135
When: After 15:30
The Ocean Course is the Royal Course’s sibling. While you don’t get to play the infamous 16th hole, there are plenty of holes that play down to the ocean, hence the name. The 15th plays right alongside the beach and is one that we particularly like. Twilight green fees offer a 40% discount when teeing off after 15:30 in the high season.
Vale da Pinta
Twilight Green Fee: €40
High Season Green Fee: €102
When: After 15:30
You’ll find Vale da Pinta just outside Carvoeiro. There are two golf courses on the complex, Gramacho being the other. Opened in 1992, this championship course requires precision on many of the holes to score well. We’re a fan of the 13th, 592-yard par-5 that winds its way through a rather beautiful valley. Tee off after 15:30 and you can save 60% on the regular green fee with their twilight rate.
Quinta de Cima
Twilight Green Fee: €64 (low season) - €79 (high season)
High Season Green Fee: €120
When: After 14:30
Located east of the Algarve near Tavira, Quinta de Cima is situated in the middle of the Ria de Formosa National Park. As a result, you’ll get unspoiled beauty, a tranquil setting and no significant developments of hotels and villas. The 16th is the standout hole here, a par-5 with a large lake awaits to the right of the green. Your approach shot must be kept left of the flagstick to avoid it. Tee off after 14:30 and you’ll save 34% on your green fee.
Quinta da Ria
Twilight Green Fee: €64 (low season) - €79 (high season)
High Season Green Fee: €120
When: After 14:30
Quinta da Ria is on the same complex as Quinta de Cima and offers a similar, peaceful experience. As you plot your way around, take in the natural scenery and wild vegetation, including thousands of ancient olive and carob trees and the five serene lakes that irrigate both golf courses. Our pick of holes is the 17th. Water plays all along the right to a tight green. Accuracy is vital to keep your ball out of the water. Twilight green fees after 14:30 represent a 34% saving over the regular price.
Pinheiros Altos
Twilight Green Fee: €75
High Season Green Fee: €106
When: After 15:00
Set in the heart of Quinta do Lago, Pinheiros Altos has 27 holes broken down into three loops of nine. Of the three loops, the Corks and Olives loops are our favourite, particularly the eighth hole on the Olives where golfers need to play to a rather impressive island green. Teeing off after 15:00 will see golfers save 31% off the regular green fees with their twilight rate.
Vila Sol
Twilight Green Fee: €50
High Season Green Fee: €121
When: After 15:30
Vila Sol is the only golf course in Vilamoura that isn’t owned by the Dom Pedro Group and forms part of the Vila Sol Golf Resort. Opened in 2000, with a further nine holes added in 2009, there are plenty of challenging holes at Vila Sol to test even the most accomplished golfer. We especially like the 7th with a long sloping green. 3-putts are not unheard of here. Tee off after 15:30 and save yourself 57% on the standard green fee.
Gramacho
Twilight Green Fee: €40
High Season Green Fee: €102
When: After 15:30
Gramacho is the second golf course at the Vale da Pinta Resort. Gramacho is an unusual course with two pin positions and tee boxes per hole. Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course
Twilight Green Fee: €68
High Season Green Fee: €106
When: After 15:30
The Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course at the Penina Resort holds the crown as the oldest golf course in the Algarve. Opened in 1966 on land that was originally used as rice paddy fields, there are now over half a million trees and scrubs to navigate around. We particularly like the 13th Par-3, this tricky slope back towards the water measures 202 yards off the whites, leave it short and you’re in the water. The Championship Course’s twilight green fee is 35% cheaper if you tee off after 15:30
Palmares

Monte Rei
Twilight Green Fee: €170
High Season Green Fee: €220
When: After 15:00
Monte Rei is often featured as the best golf course in Portugal and for good reason. This Jack Nicklaus signature course near Tavira offers unparalleled levels of customer service combined with one of the most elegant golf courses in the region. It’s a challenging track and not the cheapest to play, but boy is it worth every euro. We especially like the 13th at Monte Rei, a par-4 that plays down a large canyon, with a beautiful lake in the background. Twilight green fees start at €170 instead of €220 representing a 22% saving if you tee off after 15:00
Espiche
Twilight Green Fee: €37
High Season Green Fee: €79
When: After 15:00
We have a real soft spot for Espiche Golf Course and consider it one of the Algarve’s hidden gems. Located just outside Lagos, Espiche is one of the most manicured golf courses in the region. Its commitment to ecological preservation is also a big plus. Green fees are already reasonable at Espiche, costing €79 in the high season, but play after 15:00 and you can save an impressive 42%.
Victoria

High Season Green Fee: €194
When: After 15:00
Victoria Golf Course is Dom Pedro’s flagship golf course in Vilamoura, designed by Arnold Palmer. It’s hosted the Portugal Masters every year since 2007 and this should give you an idea of the standard. We especially like the 17th, selected by Arnold Palmer as the signature hole. With water down the left and a couple of dramatic waterfalls, its one you’ll want to revisit again and again. Twilight green fees at Victoria are €83 if you tee off after 15:00, representing a 56% saving on the high season rate.
Pinhal
Twilight Green Fee: €54 (low season) - €84 (high season)
High Season Green Fee: €135
When: After 15:00
Pinhal Golf Course in Vilamoura offers plenty of variety. There are long holes, short holes, left and right doglegs, you name it, it has it. We recommend a buggy for this one as there can be a walk between tee boxes. If you want to play in the high season green fees cost €135, but you can reduce that with their twilight rate for €84 representing a 37% saving.
The Old Course
Twilight Green Fee: €84
High Season Green Fee: €194
When: After 15:00
The Old Course as the name suggests is the oldest golf course in Vilamoura and a firm favourite with many who frequent the town regularly. We love the Old Course, for its old pine trees and the way it blends into its natural surroundings. The eighth hole is a particular delight, from the Medal tee, this hole plays over 400 metres and features a gradual decline to a fairway bunker, a gentle dogleg right, and a rise to a narrow green that is well protected by trees on all sides. Play after 15:00 and you can save 56% on the high season green fee.

We like the par-four 6th, with its downhill play and a green that’s both tricky and fast. A par on this hole should be celebrated as a job well done. Twilight green fees are only available in the low season and cost just €47.
O’Connor Junior
Twilight Green Fee: €70 (low season only)
High Season Green Fee: €135
When: After 15:30
The O'Connor Junior Course is one of three golf courses at the Amendoeira Resort. Of the full 18-hole layouts O’Connor is probably the easiest, yet provides a stiff enough test. There’s plenty of water built into the layout to ensure your shot placement is key. We like the 18th, playing alongside a river with a gentle climb before finishing under the gaze of the clubhouse. Twilight rates are available during the low season only and cost €70 per round.
Faldo Course
Twilight Green Fee: €70 (low season only)
High Season Green Fee: €135
