Espiche Golf Course is a hidden gem in the Algarve. Its immaculate condition and tranquil surroundings make Espiche the best golf course in Lagos. We're so impressed with this place that we'd actually place it just behind Monte Rei as the best golf course in the Algarve.
What's even more impressive is the fact that green fees are a fraction of the price of its more famous counterpart. A round here costs just €51, dropping to €40 if you tee off after 15:30. In the high season, green fees still represent excellent value at just €79 per round.
You won't find a golf course this good for those rates anywhere else in the Algarve.
If you're on holiday and fancy trying golf, Penina Academy Course is the best golf course for beginners in Lagos. This nine-hole golf course offers the perfect introduction to the game of golf and is ideal for beginners and players just starting out.
You can play 9 or 18 holes with green fees starting at €28 to play two loops of nine holes with the course winding its way through the magnificent Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course.
Travel 20 minutes west of Lagos and discover Santo Antonio, the best golf course for large groups in Lagos.
Santo Antonio is the most Westerly golf course in the Algarve and if you're travelling in a large group it's a great course to play at. Green fees are reasonable here, starting at €50 in the low season, rising to €60 in the high season.
There is also accommodation on on-site at the Quinta da Floresta – Santo António Villas, Golf & Spa, which offers a range of 2-4 bedroom villas, some with private pools.
If you're looking for a golf course closer Lagos for larger groups, Boavista is another excellent option and also has accommodation on-site.
Santo Antonio Golf Course is the cheapest 18-hole golf course near Lagos at €60 per round, even in the high season. But if you can stretch your budget just a bit, we'd recommend paying a little extra and opting for Espiche, which costs €79 in the high season.

You'll find the Championship Course at the Penina Hotel & Golf Resort, 20 minutes east of Lagos. It's the oldest Golf Course in the Algrave, opened in 1966.
The Championship Course has hosted several prestigious competitions over the years, including the Portugal Masters ten times.
