The Royal Course is the best golf course in Vale do Lobo. You'll want to play the 16th hole multiple times. Often cited as the most photographed hole in Portugal. Golfers must clear a 200-yard ravine, with the cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop.
Other superb golf courses near to Vale do Lobo include Quinta do Lago South Course, Laranjal and Dom Pedro Victoria.
If you're new to golf and want a course to try the sport for the first time, Balaia Golf Course in Albufeira is perfect. Only 30 minutes drive west, this nine-hole par-3 course doesn't require a handicap play and is great for introducing players to the game. Club hire and trolleys are available for an additional fee.
Dom Pedro Laguna Golf Course is another excellent option for beginner golfers. There are lovely wide-open fairways and not many obstacles.
For more experienced golfers with a high handicap, Quinta do Lago North Course is an excellent option. This full 18-hole course is the easiest of the three Quinta do Lago golf courses.
The Ocean Course is the best golf course for large groups and societies. It's more accommodating for players with a wide range of abilities so everyone can enjoy their round here. Some of the views of the ocean are spectacular here, with the 11th playing right down to beach. It's certainly one hole you'll want to play again and again.
Pinheiros Altos is the cheapest 18 hole golf course near Vale do Lobo. There's 27 holes to play here, offering plenty of variety for all levels of golfers.
Balaia Golf Course is cheaper than Pinheiros Altos but is a nine-hole par-3 golf course.
For golfers looking for a challenge, try Quinta do Lago South Course, just 6 kilometres from Vale do Lobo. This Championship course plays an impressive 7100 yards off the championship tees, with holes 8, 15, and 18, however, present a stern test for players with a low handicap.
